John Brantley: A Look Ahead and Behind

The single biggest question for the 2010 version of the Florida Gator football team is the eventual play of junior quarterback John Brantley. It is going to be at least a little different with Brantley at the helm of the offense instead of Tim Tebow, but just how much the offense could look the same may surprise some. Here is a look back at spring footage of Brantley from 2009.

There is little doubt that John Brantley will not be asked to run the ball like Tim Tebow in the Florida offense. However, don't think that Brantley can't run portions of the triple option that Tebow ran as a Gator.

Brantley will have a bevy of seasoned backs to help carry the load and he won't be asked to be the short yardage back that Tebow was at times, but he can and will run the ball regularly.

What Brantley does possess is the ability to really hit his receiver in stride both across the field and going away from him. You can see a lot of that in this short highlight from Spring 2009 and what made him the Gatorade National Player of the year out of high school.
