Burton with a Leader

The state of Florida is loaded with defensive linemen for the class of 2011 and Clay Burton at 6-3.5 and 230-pounds has as much upside as any.

From Venice (FL), Clay Burton holds offers from Clemson, FIU, Notre Dame, Purdue, Rutgers and Stanford to name a few.

"It's been real good.. Florida said they are going to be down in the spring to recruit me and want me to go to some camps in the summer.... Notre dame offered me last week or so and I'm real interested in them but Clemson is still No. 1... I have also been in touch with Georgia tech and north Carolina recently and I'm thinking there both going to offer real soon and be recruiting me to the end."

Scout.com take:

Burton possesses substantial size, athleticism, and strength. He moves laterally extremely well for a DE and can run down ball carriers from the backside. While he is a terrific athlete, he can improve his speed and quickness, he needs to become more explosive. He has a lot of experience and uses a variety of moves to his advantage, Burton is equally adept at playing the run and pass. -Geoff Vogt, Florida Recruiting Analyst
