Hofstra scored first as Eugene Brooks and Ryan Cosentino both walked with one out in the top of the second inning. After Bryan Bugg grounded out to the catcher, moving the runners to second and third, William Palmer was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Brooks then scored the first run of the game when Josh Stewart walked to give Hofstra a 1-0 lead.
The Gators answered in the bottom of the inning when Mario Garza was hit by a pitch, Brian Rose singled to center and Jake Riordan was hit by a pitch to load the bases with one out. Justin Tordi walked, scoring Garza from third, and Dowdy followed with a bases-clearing double to right center, but was thrown out at third trying to advance. Jonathan Tucker walked and then scored from first base on Harrison's two-out single to right field to give Florida the 5-1 advantage.
Florida added to its lead in the bottom of the third when Garza was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning. Rose walked, and Riordan singled to left field, driving in Garza. As the runners moved from first and second, Tordi squeezed a hit through the right side as Rose scored from second base. Dowdy's sacrifice fly to deep right center scored Riordan from third to push the Gators' lead to 8-1.
Brooks walked to lead off the fourth inning for the Flying Dutchmen and moved to second on a ground out by Cosentino. After advancing to third on a wild pitch, Bugg's sacrifice fly scored Brooks from third for Hofstra's second run of the game.
In the bottom of the fourth, Tucker led off with a double down the right field line and scored on Harrison's single to left field. C.J. Smith singled to left and Garza walked to load the bases. Harrison then scored on an error by the Hofstra catcher on a Rose fielder's choice. Riordan's sharp single up the middle drove in Smith and Garza for a 12-2 Gator advantage.
In the bottom of the sixth, Corsaletti reached first on an error by the second baseman with two outs, stole second and advanced to third on a wild pitch. Rose then singled to left field, driving in Corsaletti to give the Gators the 13-2 lead. The Gators retired the side in the top of the seventh inning to end the game.
Justin Hoyman (2-0) recorded the win for the Gators, surrendering two earned runs on two hits with five strikeouts in the full seven innings of work. Cosentino (0-1) recorded the loss for the Flying Dutchmen, giving up eight runs on five hits with four walks and one strikeout.
