Lyons with 35 and Counting

The 6-0 and 180-pound safety from Ft. Lauderdale (FL) Dillard with 4.48 speed is one of the most heavily recruited players in the state of Florida for the class of 2011. Here is an inside look into the daily life of one of the top football players in the Southeast.

Attached is a list of all the schools that have offered, with LSU being the most recent (came in this weekend). I am up to 35 total, as my list indicates. I will be traveling to South Florida with some South Florida Express teammates for their Junior Day this upcoming weekend. I will be going to Ohio State for their spring game, with some of my 7-on-7 teammates, in April. I will check out a couple Miami practices, or maybe catch their spring game, depending on the date. Other unofficials will take place during spring and the summer, but not planned just yet. Traveling is kind of hard because I'm in the National Honor Society and we have to complete 20 service hours per year with our school's NHS and most of the events are on the weekend.

I missed Miami's scrimmage this past Saturday because we were in a Dodge Ball Tournament to raise money for Special Olympics. I wasn't the last man standing but I had a great time.

I still have a 4.8 GPA. It should go up to over a 5.0 after I complete my Biology, History and College Algebra classes at Broward Community College in May. I know this is sick right.

I spoke with Coach Heater and Coach Z a few weeks ago on my way back from FSU's Junior Day. We didn't talk about an offer or anything like that. Coach Heater said that he viewed my film and likes me as a corner. I spoke to my sister while I was there. She was getting ready to attend a Step Show on campus.

I think the one thing that has surprised me the most is the number of offers I have received this early in the process. During the contact period, there were 4-5 coaches a day coming to the school to speak with my coach and view my highlights. The majority walked away very impressed, many offered on the spot or guaranteed my coach that the offer would be in the mail as soon as they got back to their campus and they did.

Overall, I would say that the process has gone extremely well. I have received attention from most of the major powers of all conferences and the fact that many head coaches are communicating with me along with my recruiter lets me know that they are serious about recruiting me. I'm trying to get to as many schools as possible to take a serious look at what the college has to offer. I will be cutting down my list at the end of the high school spring season in May. This will allow me to concentrate on the schools I have the most interest in.
