James Elliott is one to Watch

Offensive line is a priority each year among college football teams and the Florida Gators are no different. One offensive lineman in the state of Florida that is starting to get attention is 6-3 290-pound left tackle James Elliott.

James Elliott, from Pensacola (FL) Catholic has visited both Florida and Alabama.

"I enjoyed them very much," Elliott said. "I have been offered by Louisville, FIU, South Alabama and Texas Tech."

Elliot did not take up the game of football until his ninth grade year.

"I played basketball which kept my conditioning and quickness up."

Playing basketball has had its advantages for Elliott as it has developed his athleticism.

"My key in football is my speed and keeping up and catching the secondary. I need to improve my acceleration off the ball."

His family pulled for Alabama when he was growing up and his favorite player growing up was Michael Vick. He has a 325-pound bench press and 550-pound squat. Elliott is hearing the most from Alabama, Louisville and Texas Tech but also likes Florida, Clemson and Arkansas. He has visits set up with Texas Tech, Louisville, Clemson, Florida State and Ole Miss.
