Anthony is Mr. Everything

Wadesboro (NC) Anson is home to one of the top linebacker prospects in the country in Stephone Anthony. Anthony has great size (6-3, 220) and good speed (4.58), and as good as he is on the football field, he is just as impressive in the classroom with better than a 3.0 GPA.

Stephone Anthony has great versatility and that makes him very attractive to college coaches all across the country from Clemson, Duke, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, North Carolina State, South Carolina, UCLA, Virginia Tech, Florida State, Miami, and LSU.

Currently a five-star prospect and the nation's No. 4 rated outside linebacker, Anthony is a wanted man. He plays inside or outside depending on which formation they are in and could play either at the next level. In addition to wrestling he is the catcher on the baseball team.

Anthony can write his own ticket but three to keep an eye on at this time are Virginia Tech, Clemson and Florida. He is in no rush to make a decision but might cut his list to five before his senior season starts.

He is fast, physical and plays with a very high football IQ. Anthony does a great job of getting off blocks but is strong enough to take them on and still has the ability to make the play. He is very good in pass coverage and has great hands at this stage of the game. Pass coverage is very hard for high school linebackers to adjust to in college but Anthony appears to excel in coverage making him one of the most complete linebackers around.

Having said that what's most impressive is the way he attacks the ball carrier. He reads the play and reacts instinctively and explodes to the ball. Anthony does a good job of playing low and uses his hands extremely well when he does get engaged with blockers.

Anthony has yet to set up anything official with the Gator coaching staff but I think you can expect to see him at some point during spring practice.
