Mike Blakely Back from Gainesville

At 5-9, 193-pounds, Mike Blakely from Bradenton (FL) Manatee can do it all from the running back position, possessing 4.45 speed coupled with great vision and balance. The Manatee superstar holds offers from the Florida Gators as well as Auburn, Clemson, Iowa, Iowa State, Louisville, Miami, Mississippi, Nebraska, North Carolina, Rutgers, South Florida, Syracuse, Tennessee and West Virginia.

Mike Blakely ended his junior season with more than 1,400 rushing yards, 300 receiving yards (30 receptions) and a total of 21 touchdowns including one on a kickoff return.

"I went up with one of my coaches and three of my teammates. It was fun it was real fun. I enjoyed myself and hung out with Urban Meyer, Coach Addazio and Coach Drayton. I went up a couple times in the past for one junior day and a few times with Ace (Sanders) for games and stuff like that. I have not paid that much attention when Tim was there because he ran so much but now with Brantley there it's going to be the running backs. They are going a lot of one back with Brantley under center. I can see myself in any offense because I am a player and that's what I do I just ball but I did like what I was seeing during practice."

Blakely talked about a few factors that he will use to base his decision off.

"Academics, location and playing time. Florida, Clemson, Auburn, North Carolina, Ole Miss, Michigan, Texas Tech and some others are recruiting me the most."

Blakely has really developed over the years, he was a break your ankles type as a freshmen and now is all of 5-9, 185. He still has excellent quickness and acceleration, but has lost some of the deep speed. He was very durable as a junior carrying the load all the way to the state title game. He can catch the ball out of the backfield and is a smart, heady blocker, particularly against pass rushers. -Geoff Vogt, Florida Recruiting Analyst
