Stephone Anthony Talks Gators, Names Leader

The nation's No. 3 ranked outside linebacker liked what he saw at the University of Florida. Stephone Anthony, a 6-3 and 220-pound wrecking machine from Wadesboro (NC) Anson holds offers from some of the top programs such as Florida, Georgia, Clemson, LSU, Miami, Maryland, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Notre Dame and many more. Anthony talked about his recent trip to Gainesville.

"We got there and met with Coach Durkin and walked in and met all the coaches and got in the linebacker meeting and went straight to practice," Stephone Anthony said. "In the meeting he went over two new plays and was talking to the guys about how they were going to work. Practice was fast and it proved to me why they are the fastest team in the SEC. The chemistry and tempo was great they competed hard but loved each other after. The tempo was live and the players were flying around having fun. I got a chance to talk to Coach Meyer one-on-one before we left and we talked football and Florida and how it's a great opportunity for me to come and play early and he kept it real. It puts them No. 1 on my list and I have a unique opportunity to come in and play."

Anthony was ready to name his top six schools at this time.

"My list goes Florida, Clemson, Virginia Tech, USC Trojans, Oklahoma and North Carolina."

In 2010 the Gators signed the overall No. 1 class in large part to the nation's top ranked defensive line haul. Anthony had a chance to speak with one of those defensive linemen at length on his visit, Ronald Powell.

"Ronald is a real cool guy and a great football player. We talked about them signing the No. 1 defensive line class and that is pretty big for me. The next step is for them to meet my parents and get them down there and see how it goes."
