Waisome on the Gators

At 5-10 and 170-pounds with 4.45 speed Groveland (FL) Southlake superstar Nick Waisome is one of the top lock down corners in the state for the class of 2011. Waisome recently visited the University of Florida and FightinGators.com caught up with him.

"We got there around 9 or 10 a.m. and we met with all the coaches and Coach Austin and hung out for a little bit then went to the education center and talked to some of the guys over there and they went over all the things you need to do," Nick Waisome said. "After that we went back to the stadium and walked around and talked to the coaches and went on a driving tour around the campus and came back and ate lunch. It was my first driving tour around campus and I saw a bunch of places that I have not seen before like where the freshman stay and it was cool. After that I came back and talked to Coach Meyer and we kind of talked in his office and stuff like that then went over to the defensive room and went to practice. He was explaining some of the things about the program and made it clear that Florida is the place to be and went in depth as to why. Watching film they were going over technique and stuff they would be doing that day in depth and the schemes and what the corners would do in certain types of situations. I liked the way Coach Austin goes over things in the meeting room and tells you exactly what he wants you to do that day in practice. We use some of those blitzes and schemes at Southlake so I was kind of familiar. It was a great experience watching practice Coach Austin works real hard on breaking and stuff like that and coach Bedford was more of a hips guy and it was real competitive how they were going at it."

Waisome is not ready to name a leader but things very highly of the Gators.

"They are definitely up there they are very high on my list and will be in my top five or top seven when I come out with, it they are high on my list. I should make a cut after or maybe during spring ball."
