Auburn and Florida have been on Jeff Driskel for some time now and the rest of the Southeast has started to take notice. Alabama was the most recent offer coming earlier this month (April).
More than a few teams were keeping a close eye on Driskel but his recruiting process has been accelerated since his participation in the 2011 Under Armour National Combine in Lake Buena Vista (FL). Driskel turned heads with his delivery, strong arm and size. It didn't hurt when he ran back to back 4.55 and 4.54. Driskel talked about what he likes about the recruiting process.
"Getting to know a lot of the other players on visits and camps and stuff. Also, I like seeing where everybody decides to go. It's pretty cool."
Many people have long considered Driskel a Florida lean. Anytime you "slot" potential prospects to certain schools you are setting yourself up for imminent disappointment. There are so many factors behind the scenes that are never brought to life or in this case brought to the internet that do play into these lifelong decisions.
In this case I don't think that is necessarily the case but maintain caution when coming up with the proverbial mock classes this time of the year. Everyone must remember it's April and many things have yet to be determined. This does not all apply when discussing Jeff Driskel.
I for one do have a hard time believing he would pass up the friendly comforts of The Swamp for any other team he is currently looking at not only because of the strong relationships he has with the Gator coaching staff but location of the University.
Driskel currently holds offers from Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, LSU, Ole Miss, Tennessee and Virginia Tech to name a few.
