Tracking Norkeithus Otis

The nation's No. 11 ranked outside linebacker and four-star prospect according to is Gastonia (NC) Ashbrook superstar Norkeithus Otis. Otis and his uncle, Eric Otis made the 7-8 eight hour drive to check out Gainesville and came away thoroughly impressed.

Norkeithus Otis and his uncle were able to spend quality time with the coaching staff, academic advisors and the one on one attention was very important to them. Eric Otis talked about his overall impressions of what he and his nephew learned.

"My impression is great, just great. It's a great program and I am very pleased with how they run things down there. The time that they spent to show us the campus, dorms and the facilities was great I mean it was just awesome. Coach D.J. (Durkin) had everything organized and had it all laid out and told us each day what the next day had in store. The life skills workshop was very important for me knowing that it's seven to eight hours away and I need to know my nephew is going to be taken care of down there and those guys take care of their kids. The overall atmosphere was genuine. I am very comfortable with those coaches. They prepare you and it was a great experience. We had one on one time with Coach Meyer, Coach Durkin and Coach Austin and those guys didn't have anything to hide."

The Otis Family has been on numerous trips to different colleges around the Southeast but the Florida trip had a little different flavor.

"Nobody got the rating that Florida got overall. Florida and Georgia Tech did great jobs of laying everything out for us. It was just real good at Florida. They really put in the time. Anyone can front for a short period of time but that's not what Florida did. We asked the coaches a lot of questions and they answered them. I was apprehensive, I'm a man and I will admit it I prejudged them," Eric Otis said. "I was wrong and those guys are unbelievable."

Otis holds offers from Arkansas, Duke, Maryland, South Carolina, Florida, Georgia Tech, Louisville, LSU, North Carolina, Virginia and many more. He checks in at 6-3 and 205-pounds.
