Tracking Lamar Dawson

Lamar Dawson is arguable the top prospect in the state of Kentucky for the class of 2011 regardless of position. At 6-2 and 225-pounds, Dawson from Danville (KY) Boyle County is the nation's No. 9 ranked middle linebacker.

"I have offers from Kentucky, Louisville, Cincinnati, Purdue, Western Kentucky, Texas Tech, Illinois, Northwestern and Stanford," Lamar Dawson. "The Oregon coaches said that I have been approved for an offer but they must meet me in person first."

Dawson plans to get out over the next couple months and see some of the teams that have extended offers.

"I'm going to Louisville and Western Kentucky this weekend to watch their spring games."

Dawson had a very productive junior season in which he filled the stat sheet on regular basis.

"I had 23 catches, 376 yards, 25 carries for 400 yards, 176 tackles, two interceptions and three fumble recoveries." Biography:

Starter at middle linebacker as a sophomore. Also plays tight end and fullback. He says he can bench 280-pounds, squat 460 and has a 32-inch vertical jump.

Dawson reports a 3.7 core GPA and a 22 ACT. Dawson: "I take good angles and can get to the ball fast. I'm very physical when I play. "I still want to get stronger. And faster too."
