Pierson May Look Around

Anthony Pierson, a 6-0, 175-pounder with sub 4.4 speed, is one of the top athletes in the country. Checking in from St. Louis (MO) Gateway Tech, Pierson decided to end the speculation back in February and make his announcement for the hometown Tigers.

Anthony Pierson holds current offers from Missouri, Minnesota, Louisville, Tennessee, Ole Miss and Kansas State to name a few. Pierson would like to play cornerback, running back and wide receiver at the next level and has the ability to play all three. Pierson has lofty goals for his senior season.

"1,500 rushing yards, 20-25 catches and being a shut down corner with five to seven interceptions."

Pierson said the strengths of his game are his vision and breakaway speed. His freshman season he totaled 1,100 rushing yards on 130 carries, sophomore season 2,200 rushing yards on 240 carries and last season 1,200 rushing yards on 110 carries with 15 receptions and another 220 yards.

"My first two years my head coach was very run oriented and I had a lot of carries. My junior year my new head coach Charlie Coe (former head coach of Alabama State and wide receiver coach for the Oakland Raiders) brought in a more pro-style offense in which I didn't carry the ball as much so I was placed in the slot and became a better pass catcher. Also, with the help of offensive coordinator Jason Dullick (former receiver at University of Illinois) I also learned how to run better routes. On defense my defensive coordinator (Shaun Pollard) we played a lot of man to man which left me on the other teams best receiver and I ended the year with five interceptions and one returned for a touchdown."

While Pierson has made his pledge to the Missouri Tigers don't be shocked if he starts to take some visits.
