Turene Drawing Attention from Top Programs

Kent Turene, a 6-3 and 225-pound linebacker, is a hot commodity in the world of recruiting. Coaches such as Urban Meyer, Nick Saban, Mark Richt and Steve Spurrier are all trying to land the Lauderdale Lakes (FL) Boyd H. Anderson superstar.

The linebacker board at the University of Florida is not for the faint of heart. Stephone Anthony, Lamar Dawson, Curtis Grant, Ryan Shazier, Lateek Townsend and Norkeithus Otis are all giving the Gators a hard look as well as many others.

Kent Turene has visited Gainesville and liked what he saw and is being recruited by wide receiver coach Zach Azzanni. Turene plans to return to Gainesville but not until Friday Night Lights next month. He continues to be one of the hottest prospects from the state of Florida the last several weeks.

Turene projects inside at the next level with great size but has deceptive speed and is very athletic. He is one of the top 20 prospects in the state of Florida for the class of 2011. The linebacker board is very deep for the Gators as they sit in a perfect position for some of the nation's best backers and will be content to let things play out between some of the top players at the position. More than a few linebackers could make the call right not and become Gators.

Turene holds offers from some of the nation's finest programs including Alabama, Cincinnati, Florida, Florida International, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisville, Marshall, Maryland, Minnesota, Mississippi, Nebraska, North Carolina, Purdue, South Carolina, South Florida, Tennessee, Texas A&M and USC.
