Lamar Dawson Close to Another?

Danville (KY) Boyle is home to one of the nation's top defensive players. Lamar Dawson, a 6-2 and 230-pound middle linebacker, is physical and fast (4.6) and checks in as the nation's No. 10 ranked middle linebacker according.

Lamar Dawson currently holds offers from Kentucky, Louisville, Cincinnati, Illinois, Northwestern, Purdue, Western Kentucky, Texas Tech and Stanford. Expect seven to be around until National Signing Day with Florida, USC, Michigan, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisville and Cincinnati.

"We've been just lifting and doing agility work after school. We do that on Tuesday and Thursday and we are off on our own the other three days."

On the recruiting front Dawson is close to picking up another offer.

"It's going real good. I just got done talking to coaches from USC and they told me they were about to offer me. I was excited about it and they recruit nationally and the best players so I must be one of the best players in the country. I think I am up to 13 offers right now."

There is mutual interest in the Gators and Dawson will make his first trip to Gainesville in the next few weeks.

"I talk to Florida once a week about everything and they want me to come down there for camp on June 17. I just want to see everything down there the players, facilities and I want to see how the weight lifting program is and I expect it to be a real good time."

Dawson talked about one part of recruiting he was unaware of this time last year.

"The coaches will tell you anything to get you down there to commit and stuff like that. I must feel comfortable with the coach and trusting him and the program."
