2012 Safety is One to Watch

Jacksonville University Christian has had its share of star players over the years and A.C. Leonard is a star attracting coaches and media to pay attention to the team in 2010. Leonard is a big time tight end prospect, but he isn't the only talent on the Fighting Christian's team. Lurking in the secondary is a headhunter at safety for the 2012 class. Dwayne Norman is already getting noticed.

Dwayne Norman already has good size standing around 6-0 as a sophomore in high school. The safety/slot receiver is fluid and runs well, and he also brings a nasty attitude when he makes contact with the ball carrier.

The beneficiary of a strong front line defense, Norman expects to make some noise in his junior campaign.

"I like to have the big defensive line in front of me," Norman said after practice a couple of weeks ago. "I have the ability to get off the block and make a hit. I like to hit."

It is still early in the prepster's career, but schools like Vanderbilt and Louisville have taken notice of the 4.0 student who wants to major in Zoology or Business in college.

However, it is two in-state schools that have had Norman's attention for a while now.

"I liked Florida State and Florida growing up," Norman said. "I like FSU's defense, they are hard hitting and get after the ball. I like Florida's offense and the defense. This summer I am going to do some camps and combines. I am hoping to camp at FSU."

Still really early in his career, Norman believes the people and the place are going to have the influence on where he inevitably chooses to go to school.

"It is going to be where I feel the most comfortable and where I think I can help the team the most," Norman said about choosing a college to play. "I want to go to a place where the over all feeling is great and the people are great."

He is a name no one has heard of on the recruiting scene, but Dwayne Norman is likely someone we will hear much more from in 2010. Scout.com will be there to cover it.
