Coxson Arrives in Gainesville

The University of Florida freshmen athletes report today, but Baltimore (MD) receiver Adrian Coxson got a one day jump on everything. The 6-2, 205 pound beast of a receiver drove down on Monday, stayed over night in a hotel and then planned to move into his dorm room on Tuesday. Eager and ready for the task, Coxson should provide immediate depth to the receiver corps at UF.

Adrian Coxson is one of the newest Florida Gators, and this day has been a long time coming.

"I am leaving Monday morning to go down there," Coxson said via phone Sunday night. "My mother is coming with me. I just want to get down there, work out m get with the team, and start learning the play book."

Florida receiver coach Zach Azzanni has been on Coxson to get ready to come in and play.

"He wants me to compete as much as I can," he said of Azzanni. "My expectation is to get on the field early. I know my work ethic and I am a hard worker."

Coxson has stayed in touch with one player on the team, junior quarterback John Brantley will be the starter in the fall.

"I text with John Brantley every once in a while," he said. "I just let him know I am coming soon to work hard and get better. He tells me he is looking forward to having another big receiver."

Coxson reiterated the reasons he chose Florida over other programs and has these things on his mind as he makes his way down to Gainesville.

"I expect a national championship," he said. "I picked Florida because of that and because of how they develop players very well."

As far as what he brings to the table, Adrian Coxson has a variety of skills and talents that make him different, these are things Gator fans can expect to see as early as this season.

"I bring toughness and the ability to make great plays," he said. "I am going to ball out. I am going to work hard and make plays."
