Scout 300 Top Gator Offensive Targets

The recent edition of the Top 300 rankings includes an enormous amount of talent that is looking at the Florida Gators. Scout continues to push the envelope and post updated Top 300 list and every time, the Gators seem to be faring better. Here is a breakdown of the many prospects that Florida has looking at them at this time.

The Florida Gators got their quarterback in the 2011 class when the nation's No. 6 player at the position decided he was going to be a Gator. Jeff Driskel has continued his assent atop the rankings and looks to climb even higher before all is said and done. The Oveido Hagerty quarterback has been working the phone lines in helping to recruit a lot of the rest of the list you will see here.

At the top of the list at running back stands a trio of five-star prospects eying the Gators. James Wilder is listed as an outside linebacker on Scout, but will be a running back in college. The Gators are a strong candidate to earn the Tampa Plant star's commitment before all is said and done. Savon Huggins of Jersey City (NJ) is a prime candidate for the Gators at the running back spot, while five-star Rodney Coe of Edwardsville (IL) would be a long shot but not out of the question at this moment.

A quarter of four-star backs are also interested in Florida at this time. Jameel Poteat of Harrisburg (VA), Dee Hart of Orlando Dr. Phillips, Quan Bray of Hogansville (GA) and Mike Blakely of Bradenton Manatee round out the Top 300 backs considering Florida at this time. Despite reports, Blakely is still said to favor Florida over others at this time.

The Gators are looking to add receivers as usual in the 2011 class and have their sights set high. Three five-star receivers dot the interest list for Florida including Kasen Williams of Sammamish (WA), George Farmer of Cardena (CA) and Sammy Watkins of South Ft. Myers. Farmer and Watkins would be the most likely of that trio at this time.

The four-star list among the Top 300 interested in Florida include seven receivers. Javares McRoy has already decided he wants to be a Gator and the Lakeland Dreadnaught is a welcome addition to the 2011 class with his quickness and speed. Ja'Juan Story of Brooksville Nature Coast is an athletic receiver that could play many positions at the next level and has also pledged to the Gators.

Kelvin Benjamin of Belle Glade Glades Central is said to be a top target for the Gators. Dameire Byrd of Erial (NJ) has been offered as a defensive back as has Miles Shuler of Long Branch (NJ). Devon Blackmon of Fontana (CA) is a dark horse in the class. The speedy and electric Tacoi Sumler of Miami Christopher Columbus rounds out the list at receiver in the Top 300.

The Gators have a commitment from four-star tight end A.C. Leonard and he may be the best of the bunch anyway when all is said and done. But five-star tight ends jay Rome of Valdosta (GA) and Austin Seferian-Jenkins of Gig Harbor (WA) are two of the finest in the land and seem to seriously still consider Florida at this time.

The offensive line is a big place of need and the list is very thin in 2011. The nation's top offensive tackle Cyrus Kouandjio of Hyattsville (MD) does have some interest in Florida at this time. The Gators have already plucked one of their top targets in Ridgefield (CT) tackle Tommy Jordan. Ryan Kelly of Westchester (OH) is another top target while Zach Debell of Tarpon Springs will be one to watch during the 2011 season.

In all 25 offensive players from the Top 300 are considering Florida at this time. The Gators can't take them all, but they certainly stand in good shape heading into the Summer show case, Friday Night Lights with many of the above listed players.

Next we will talk about the defensive players on the list.
