FNL Player Preview: Loucheiz Purifoy

Loucheiz Purifoy, a 6-0 and 180-pound athlete, projects as a cornerback at the next level and showcased his skills in Gainesville at a recent camp, turning heads with incredible quickness, top end speed and fluid hips. urifoy has sub 4.4 speed (4.38) and checks in from Pensacola (FL) Pine Forest.

Loucheiz Purifoy holds offers from Florida, Southern Miss, Troy and UAB. Keep an eye on the Auburn Tigers as they could be the next team to offer Purifoy.

Geoff Vogt from SunStateFootball.com has Purifoy as his overall No. 1 sleeper prospect in the state of Florida for the class of 2011. Vogt had this to say about the Pensacola star.

Purifoy did most of his damage at running back as a junior, but it is as a defensive back that he will likely be recruited. At 6-0, with sub 4.5 speed, he is the long corner that is coveted by every school.

It's one thing to have potential and another all together when you start to back it up which is exactly what Purifoy did at the Badger Sport 7-on-7 National Championships where he was named First Team All-Defense.

My Take:
Loucheiz Purifoy seemingly came out of nowhere on the recruiting trail to numerous teams except the University of Florida. The Gator coaches were well aware of Purifoy for months building relations and continuing to evaluate his performance. Once they saw him practice, their evaluations were confirmed and all that was left was to have him come into camp so the rest of the staff could get a look up close and live.

Purifoy did not disappoint as he turned in a fantastic performance in front of the Gator coaching staff. He is currently enrolled taking classes over the summer and the staff is keeping a close eye on him to see the kind of progress that he makes. He will bring his mother and two sisters with him as he attends Friday Night Lights.
