The 5-10, 175-pound speed merchant said he will make the trip from Texas to Gainesville for Friday Night Lights on July 23.
Charles Jackson is currently a four-star prospect and the nation's No. 16 ranked corner. Jackson holds offers from Arkansas, Baylor, California, Houston, Kansas, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Texas Tech.
Jackson will need to make this trip and be very impressive on Friday night. It won't be enough to simply show blazing speed. The Gators have Pop Saunders at this time and should be considered the frontrunners for both Loucheiz Purifoy, Nick Waisome and Marcus Roberson. Both Purifoy and Roberson could find themselves at the safety position but where would that leave Chris Johnson and Wayne Lyons?
It's becoming a numbers crunch in the defensive backfield and if Jackson wants any hope of wearing the Orange and Blue he must make FNL and must be very impressive. Will it be enough? Only time will tell. Based on distance and the fact that Jackson has yet to step foot on the Florida campus coupled with talented defensive backs in the state of Florida it's hard for me to imagine a class with Charles Jackson. Remember, Jackson is the No. 16 ranked cornerback prospect in the country and he is more than just a guy with amazing speed.
As of today I suspect he could be yelling Boomer Sooner before all is said and done but if he visits for Friday Night Lights anything can happen.
