The 6-0 and 180 pound athlete projects as a cornerback for the Gators and showcased his skills in Gainesville at a recent camp. Turning heads with incredible quickness, top end speed and fluid hips. Loucheiz Purifoy has sub 4.4 speed (4.38) and checks in from Pensacola (FL) Pine Forest.
FightinGators.com caught up with the verbal commitment after he made his intentions known moments ago.
"I just committed. I feel great about it and my family is really excited to be part of the Gator Nation."
The state of Florida is loaded year in and year out with the nation's finest high school football players. Everyone knows of the top tier rated players such as defensive tackle Tim Jernigan and James Wilder, but not many were aware of Purifoy. Geoff Vogt from SunStateFootball.Com recently named Purifoy his number one sleeper prospect in the state of Florida. As he mentions, this time last year Homestead's Darrin Kitchens, Miami Beach's Delmar Taylor and Glades Central's Greg Dent were relatively unknown in the recruiting world. Where did they end up? Florida, Miami and Florida State.
Purifoy is the bigger corner that so many teams look for and he fills a huge need for the Gators in the 2011 class. He is also the state champion in the triple jump.
We'll have more in depth with him tonight after camp.
