FNL: Top Five Wide Receivers

GAINESVILLE, Fla.- With no roster and so many smaller receivers with good speed in action, it took a little time to figure out who one of the top playmakers was, but finally Javarres McRoy was recognized and he was one of the best in Gainesville.

Here is a look at my top five wide receivers at Friday Night Lights.

Javares McRoy – 5-9/165 - Lakeland, Fla. – Lakeland - 2011
FNL Report: The Gator commitment looked right at home Friday night making plays with his hands and feet. He would catch short balls and make guys miss before showing speed when turning it up field. He is small, but he will be very dangerous in the slot.

Angelo Jean-Louis – 6-1/185 – Palm Beach, Fla. – Palm Beach Central - 2012
FNL Report: This junior looks to be the total package at wide receiver. He did not put up big numbers as a sophomore, but don't let that fool you. He is a smooth receiver that has very good speed and he made himself a big target at FNL. He got down field well and created good separation against solid defensive backs all night.

Chris Black – 5-11/170 – Jacksonville, Fla. – First Coast - 2012
FNL Report: Black looked a lot like McRoy out there Friday night. He is a little taller and maybe a tad thicker, but his quickness and playmaking skills are very similar. He caught the ball well and was very rarely tested when the ball came his way because not many could keep up with him in coverage.

D'Vario Montgomery – 6-3/205 – Orlando, Fla. – Winter Park - 2012
FNL Report: This is a new name to some, but he is definitely one to keep an eye on. He has an outside linebacker type of body, but he showed hands of a top wideout in this camp. Montgomery is strong off the ball, he stuck his routes, and he snatched the ball out of the air.

Latroy Pittman – 6-1/190 – Citra, Fla. – North Marion - 2012
FNL Report: Pittman had another strong showing this summer. At Georgia last week, he was one of the top three receivers and he is again in the top five this time. Pittman could play safety or receiver on the next level, but at receiver this time, he got in and out of his breaks well, he ran good routes, and he made nice adjustments on balls.
