Chickillo Enjoying the Process

Anthony Chickillo, a 6-4 and 235-pound defensive end, checks in from Tampa (FL). He is one of the top defensive ends in the country and has the offer list to prove it. Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Georgia Tech, LSU, Miami, Michigan State, Mississippi, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Purdue, Rutgers, South Florida, Tennessee, UCLA and USC have extended offers to Chickillo.

Anthony Chickillo could call any head coach in America and verbally commit on the spot. He has a great motor that never stops, plays great with his hands and is very physical. caught up with the superstar defensive end.

"It's going good right now," Chickillo said. "I am just about done with trips. I am going to watch the Miami practice on Thursday and maybe South Florida on Saturday then we start camp on Monday."

Predicting what's going on in the mind of a teenager is never a safe profession. If I were a betting man I would say that Chickillo will stay in state.

"I have been to all the Florida schools a bunch. Florida State four times, Florida four times, Miami about five times and South Florida about five times. They are all so close and I have been able to get to all of them. I am trying to build relationships with my position coaches and go from there. Coach McCarney and I at Florida are real close, Coach Patrick at South Florida, and really I am close with all of those guys like Coach Petri at Miami, Coach Elliot at Florida State and Coach Smith at Tennessee. I mean I really liked it when I was at Alabama as well."

As good of a football player as he is Chickillo is an even better person off the field. He is the kind of person that doesn't want to let anyone down. As far as when he might announce it could be sooner rather than later.

"I am just enjoying the process. I have been thinking about it lately and thinking about doing it a little earlier than expected. I was thinking about doing it at the Under Armour game but I kind of want to get it done. I don't want to disappoint anyone or string them on and I am kind of getting a little tired of the phone calls. At the same time I am very blessed but at times it's just a very tiring process."
