Grant Likes His Options

Five-star OLB Curtis Grant said it's not about the school, it's about the people. The 2011 linebacker standout has spent his summer visiting places where he may spend his college years. Grant doesn't have a list of top schools in the running for his services just yet, but he can think of a few places that might make his final ballot.

"Every school I went to this summer was sweet. They are all just so nice and everybody shows you a good time so you have to look past that and focus on the people there. The players at UVA, USC, Florida and Alabama make me feel really comfortable."

Curtis Grant visited universities in the Pac-10, SEC and ACC to get a taste of the many flavors he's being offered. As a Virginia native, Grant has been able to develop a strong relationship with the UVA coaching staff. He said he also really likes one other group of coaches.

"The Florida staff is awesome, too. I talk with Coach (D.J.) Durkin a lot."

Grant said he's going to take some time off of the "recruiting grind" and focus on his high school team.

"When it comes to visits and stuff, I'm just going to take it easy and figure those out with my coach at some point soon. Right now it's all about my team and I have to be there for them as a player and a leader."

Grant insists that he is very prepared for his senior season at Hermitage High School and said he wants to continue to impress schools like Florida.

"I'm ready to win the state championship with my high school. Then I want to go to college and win a national championship."

Grant said leadership is key for him and he will use it as an enhancement to his skills on the field.

"I plan on using my abilities as a leader to get things done. I can lead my high school team to a state championship. I can lead my college team to a national championship or a bowl game win. I can do it if I'm there for them."

He brings a lot more than leadership to the field, however. At 6-3, 215-pounds, Grant is built like an outside LB but has the grit to go inside on the next level if he adds weight. He excels in the passing game, especially in coverage and has killer instincts.
