Hounshell Made the Most of Gainesville Visit

Chase Hounshell, a 2011 OL/DE, is impressed with what Florida has to offer. The 6-6, 265-pound prospect out of Mentor, Ohio says his visit to Gainesville couldn't have been better. Hounshell talked about the Gators and where they could fit in on his list of top schools.

"I was sad to leave. I wanted to stay even longer. Coach (Urban) Meyer said they were really impressed with me and he told me I definitely stole some hearts. That's an exact quote, by the way."

Chase Hounshell had a busy day at Florida but said he remembers every second of it.

"I woke up at 5 in the morning to watch practice and I was really impressed with Coach (Steve) Addazio and the players. Then I went to the football offices and I got to see all the trophy cases and talk to the coaches. I got to see the weight room and the training room and then I took a campus tour. I even met with an academic advisor to talk about my major because I know I want it to be business. I went and had lunch and then went to see the O-Line meeting rooms. After that I watched the freshmen practice. It was awesome."

The rising high school senior is hoping for a Florida offer in the next few days. He said he thinks his odds are looking pretty good right now.

"Coach Meyer and Coach Addazio said they want to talk to my coaches and let them know what's going on out of respect for them. I'm supposed to call Florida this Saturday to talk about an offer. My team's two-a-days will be starting then so I may call in between practices. An offer from Florida would really be great motivation to get me going in those practices!"

Hounshell knows right where Florida would land in his group of top schools.

"They'd be in my top for sure. I don't know if I would commit on the spot but an offer from Florida would definitely speed up my recruitment."

Florida joins Boston College, Notre Dame, Iowa, Wisconsin and Michigan State in the race for Hounshell. Notre Dame and Florida are the only schools on that list that have yet to extend an offer. Notre Dame would like to use Hounshell as a DE while Florida is recruiting him as an offensive tackle.
