Huggins Likes Competitive Atmosphere at UF

"It was everything I expected and more," Savon Huggins said as he was leaving Gainesville earlier today. The nation's No. 6 ranked running back and five-star prospect checks in at 6-0 and 200-pounds with 4.4 speed from Jersey City (NJ) St. Peters Preparatory School.

"Everyone wants to win here, it's all about winning championships and it's real competitive. It's competitive in the classroom, weight room and on the field. It's just an elite school."

Savon Huggins made the drive from Weston, Fla. where he and his family were on vacation. Huggins has offers from every major program in the country, including Florida, Georgia, Miami, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Stanford and Wisconsin to name a few.

"Being around the players and seeing the perspective that they have was real nice. I also spent time with Coach Stan Drayton. We talked about running back schemes, life and how they treat players like their own so's. They treat players like family. All the players are real close with the coaches and they are always around if you need them."

Huggins was able to spend a great deal of time with head coach Urban Meyer before he and his family had to leave.

"Coach Meyer is a very convincing person. He is trying to get me real bad and told me what he expects out of me. He said that nothing will be given to me but if I work hard I can compete and earn time on the field from day one."

Huggins wasn't the only high profile player to visit Florida for the first day of practice as the top fullback and quarterback in America were also on hand. Both Jeff Driskell and Hunter Joyner made an appearance in Gainesville today.

"I was talking to both those guys today just in general so they are going to recruit me and I exchanged numbers with them and we will stay in touch. I know they are going to be on me real hard so it's all cool"

Huggins and his mother also had a chance to check out some of the BCS Championship rings during their stay in Gainesville.

"It was real cool for me. It was a new experience and I enjoyed that. It was real cool and I liked it."

Huggins plans on visiting Miami before heading home early next week.
