Driskel Takes Extra Trip to Gainesville

Florida QB commit Jeff Driskel is taking his future team very seriously. Driskel is putting in some hard work trying to secure a talented and devoted group to join him at Florida. He hopped in the car and drove to Gainesville as soon as he heard five-star RB Savon Huggins would be on campus. Driskel said it was well worth the two-hour drive.

"I think Savon really liked it. I mean I can't speak for him but he seemed to have a good time. He's a really good kid and we are going to stay in touch."

When Jeff Driskel said they will keep in touch, he means it. Huggins is serious about communicating too.

"We exchanged numbers and he actually texted me first. That was really cool. He said he was sad he didn't make it to watch practice and he asked me how it was going."

Driskel has goals for the kinds of players he wants to make up his freshman class at UF.

"I have to get the best players in the country to be the best. Savon (Huggins) is one of those guys I really want. We would love to have him on our side."

The trip to Gainesville ended up being doubly positive for Driskel.

"I finally got to meet fullback Hunter Joyer. I had heard great things about him and this was a fun time with him. We sort of teamed up to make Savon know how much we would like him to be a part of our class."

This will be a big year for Driskel. Not only will he continue recruiting players for Florida, he also has some lofty goals for his Hagerty High School team.

"We can't use the 'new school' excuse anymore. This is going to be a good year. Everyone has worked really hard and we have some talented players with experience on our team."

Driskel will spend time making his high school team better while also building a strong group of talent on the next level at Florida. Multi-tasking at it's best according to this QB.
