Profile 2004 - Marcus Freeman (MLB)

Marcus Freeman will be one of the most sought after linebackers in the nation and the senior to be from the state of Ohio is interested in the Florida Gators.

One of the top overall prospects from the state of Ohio is Marcus Freeman from Huber Heights (Ohio) Wayne High School. Freeman, 6-2 and 240 pounds, is a middle linebacker prospect that runs in the 4.6 range.

"I think my best attribute is my speed," said Freeman. "I get to the hole and find the ball. If I have a weakness it's that I need to be more explosive and work on my pass coverage. But I think I have a good game and can fit into any scheme."

Last season as a junior, Freeman recorded 151 tackles, 28 tackles for a loss, 8 sacks and 3 punt blocks. According to Freeman, he has scholarship offers from Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State, Northwestern, Purdue, Penn State and others.

"Right now, I am looking at Ohio State, Michigan, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, USC, Penn State and Purdue. The first thing I am looking at is academics. I need something to fall back on if football doesn't work out. I want to play in a good football program that has a good family atmosphere so I can fit in with them. I am really not too concerned with the depth chart because I know there will be competition everywhere."

Freeman plans on attending the Nike Camp (Michigan) and would also like to camp at Ohio State, Michigan, and Notre Dame this summer. He bench presses 430 pounds and carries a 3.7 grade point average.
