Stock Report: Dante Fowler

The University of Florida and bitter rival Florida State have had plenty of in-state recruiting battles over the last several years. The Gators and Noles will be locked in another fierce battle in 2012 for the services of the top defensive end Dante Fowler.

Dante Fowler is a 6-3 and 237-pound playmaker that grew up a Florida State fan from St. Petersburg (FL) Catholic. Fowler visited Gainesville with his parents and the Gators set the bar high. Was it high enough for the Noles to overcome? Time will tell but one thing is for sure the Gators and Noles sit in the top two spots for one of the state's top overall prospects in the class of 2012.

Fowler currently has offers from Florida, Florida State, Auburn, Georgia, Mississippi, Ohio State, South Florida, Tennessee, Texas Tech and West Virginia to name a few. No other offer will matter at the end of the day as he will decide between Florida and Florida State. For another team to get in the mix some drastic changes must occur that I don't see happening at this time.

Stock Report:

The Dante Fowler stock report is through the roof right now. He was very impressive last week versus Tampa (FL) King in three quarters of work ending his night with eight tackles and three sacks. Quick, explosive and great nose for the ball make him one of the most complete defensive ends not only in Florida but in the Southeast.

Fowler says his strength is his quickness.

St. Petersburg Catholic will play Gibbs this coming weekend.
