Five-Star LB With UF on his Mind

The nation's No. 3 ranked outside linebacker is five-star prospect Stephone Anthony. Anthony, a 6-3, and 225-pound linebacker from Wadesboro (NC) Anson, is one of the most heavily pursued players in the country regardless of position. The Gators sit in the driver seat for Anthony who has told anyone that will listen, the Gators are the team to beat.

September 1 was the first official day college coaches across the country could pick up the phone and call high school football players. Stephone Anthony has been talking with linebacker coach D.J. Durkin and has built a great relationship with the first year coach. Not only did he speak with coach Durkin but yesterday had a great conversation with Urban Meyer and his potential defensive coordinator Teryl Austin.

"It went real good," Anthony said.

He plans on making his way to The Swamp for an official visit potentially when the Gators host LSU. Anthony does not plan to announce his college destination until early January when he participates in the Under Armour All-Star game in Orlando. Gator fans will ride this one out but if you must wait you might as well do it from the driver seat.

Other teams to keep an eye on are Clemson and North Carolina.
