Roberson Ready for Labor Day Matchup

Marcus Roberson, a 2011 cornerback from St. Thomas Aquinas, will have a Labor Day to remember. The 6-0, 175-pound corner is ready to show what he can do at Cowboys Stadium in Kirk Herbstreit's National Kickoff Classic. St. Thomas Aquinas will take on Dallas Skyline in a game to be broadcast on FSN Florida/Sun Sports at 1:30 p.m. Roberson said he's pumped for the game.

"I can't wait to just get out there. I am just praying I have a really big game and I hope I can help my team a lot," Marcus Roberson said Sunday night before Monday's game.

Roberson has been very focused on his team's success recently and said recruiting has taken a spot in the backseat. Still, he has a few things on his mind.

"I haven't been talking to too many coaches or anything lately. I've just really been working hard with my team and doing well in school. I did talk to coach Azzanni (Florida) today though. We talked about me setting up a visit real soon. I haven't talked to Auburn in a little bit. I'm really just trying to think through things right now and make sure I do what's best for me."

Roberson has named Auburn as his leader for some time now and he said he still really likes the Tigers but he wants to keep his options open.

"I'm interested to see what Florida tells me when I visit. I always liked Florida but they told me they wanted me to play safety and I really want to play corner so I want to see how sure they are that I could play corner there. That could change a lot of my thoughts. I am also thinking about Georgia and FSU so really I have four schools I'm looking at pretty hard."

Those four (Auburn, Florida, Georgia and FSU) present unique attributes in Roberson's eyes. He has become more interested in Georgia and FSU recently due to attention he's received from both schools.

"I never thought it would be like this with all the attention. I started out with just that Texas A&M offer and now I'm looking at an opportunity to play in the SEC. It's really cool. I like what Georgia has to offer because it seems like a really great place and somewhere I could play a lot. I hope to take a visit there this season."

Florida State has jumped into the mix for Roberson "pretty recently" after recruiting two of his teammates -— OL Bobby Hart and WR Rashad Greene.

"I heard Bobby and Rashad talking about FSU a lot and I started talking to coaches there and it seems really great. Tallahassee is a cool place and I could see myself having a good career there. I'll have to talk to them more and take a visit before I know how serious I am about them though."

Roberson knows he has some tough decisions to make and he is hoping to take it a little slower than he had originally planned.

"I thought I wanted to commit before my season started but then I realized I might have some more thinking to do. I really want to see what schools like Florida and Georgia have to offer and give everyone a good chance. I'm so thankful for the attention I'm getting and I want to make the most of it. It's so hard to narrow down choices but I know it will be between Auburn, Florida, FSU and Georgia."
