Leaving the State

Cody Robinson, three-star offensive guard from Warren County Hign School in McMinnville, Tenn., committed to Duke Univeristy. The 6-foot-4 prospect chose the Blue Devils over scholarship offers from Kentucky, Memphis, Middle Tennessee, Syracuse, Tulane, Vanderbilt and Western Kentucky. The Pioneers are 2-4 for the season and will host Cumberland County Friday night.

Staying Home

Giorgio Newberry, four-star defensive end from Ft. Pierce (Central) Fla., picked Florida State over numerous scholarship offers including Florida, Georgia. LSU, Miami, Michigan, Rutgers and UCF. The 6-foot-6, 250-pound prospect had 40 tackles and three sacks in 2009. The Cobras are undefeated and will host Santaluces Friday night.

Not Far From Home

Diaheem Watkins, defensive end from Bibb County High School in Centreville, Ala., will play college football for head coach Joey Jones at South Alabama. The 6-foot-4-225 pound prospect had 52 tackles in 2009, 8.5 sacks, seven forced fumbles and one fumble recovery. The Choctaws are undefeated and will host Livingston Friday night.
