Chris Jones commits
"I know all of the coaches at Alabama really well," said Chris Jones. "I've been to Alabama a lot. I am real familiar and comfortable with them. I have a great realationship with the coaches.
"I love the chance I will have to play for Nick Saban. I love to have a shot getting a ring. I know I'd have a good chance doing that at Alabama."
The University of Alabama was one of the last schools to extend an offer to the undervalued prospect. The coaching staff wanted to see Jones perform during the summer at camp, and he proved his worth.
Scout.com's Take: Jones is an electrifying athlete on both sides of the ball. He stars as a running back and on defense for the Tigers. Jones really excels with his reaction and quickness. He does a great job reading plays and is very quick breaking on the ball.
Jones has established himself as a gamebreaker on the offensive side of the ball which has helped increase his stock. College coaches see Jones as a versatile athlete who can play more than one position. He has a great blend of speed, quickness and field vision.
Chris Jones says:: "I'm quick, and I have good ball awareness. I can go up and down the field and have great conditioning. I play loose, and I'm very versatile. I like to hit too, and I think I'm pretty tough. I want to be more explosive when hitting. I'm trying to get my upper body stronger and be more physical. I also want to get faster and improve my speed."
2009 stats: Jones finished his junior season with 65 tackles and seven interceptions. He also had four touchdowns rushing, two punt returns and one kick return.
