2013 QB Causing a Stir

Von Smith is averaging over 300 passing yards per game which is near the top statistically in the state of Mississippi. The sophomore signal caller has a lot of natural ability to work with. He could play any number of positions on the college level, but for now he is lining up behind center and making the West Oktibbeha Timberwolves go.

"We keep God first, pray and pass the ball a lot," said Smith. "We work hard in practice to get better and then we get out there in the game and try to do it well."

Von is working hard to become a more complete player. He believes that his mental approach to the game is better this year thanks in large part to some new found maturity.

"I feel like I am a good captain," said Smith. "I don't joke and play around like I did last year. I take the game more seriously."

Signing day is still over two years away for Von, but he has a good idea about what he wants in a college home.

"I am looking for a good football program with adults that like to have fun without getting in trouble," said Smith. "I want to stay close, so I can visit my parents and have them see me play."
