Florida DE has top three

Ricardo Williams is a standout defensive end prospect from Homestead and Scout caught up with him to discuss the latest.

Ricardo Williams talked about his senior season.

"Well, right now we are going through a lot fighting to go the playoffs. It is going pretty good individually, just hoping that my team can pull it off and make a run for the state title. I don't know how many tackles but I got 11 sacks right now. The team we played didn't throw the ball because they knew I was a good pass rusher so they like run the opposite of me so I didn't get the chance to make as many plays."

Williams, 6-foot-5 and 215 pounds, talked about the latest with recruiting.

"Recently I have been talking to Oregon, FSU, and North Carolina. I am not committed, but I am looking forward to making my decision because I just want to get it over with. They are the three I am mainly considering, but any school can get in the mix."

The standout defensive end prospect, who claims a 2.7 GPA and a 17 ACT score, talked about what he likes about each school.

"Oregon, I like what they are doing. I see them play a lot and week by week I see them improve. I think it is a great opportunity for me to go there and play."

"FSU, I like how the coaches are recruiting a lot of good talent coming in. It is a great opportunity to play in my home state."

"North Carolina, they are hurting on defense a lot. I think it is a good program. Butch Davis likes to recruit from this state. They love me and want to get me up there to see the place."

Williams says he doesn't have a leader among the three right now.

"I don't have a favorite; those three are a great program. I can see myself going to any one of those schools. I am going to take my time and come up with the best decision for me."

He then talked about what he's looking for in a school.

"A program that gets a lot of exposure, that goes to bowl games every year and produce a lot of players to the league."
