Decision Date Set for Harris

John Harris is one of the top pass rushers in the state of Florida. The Boynton Beach standout made a name for himself last fall as a rangy defensive end prospect with a knack for getting to the quarterback. Nearly two dozen schools have extended scholarship offers to the talented Harris, but with decision day approaching just three schools remain in contention.

John Harris profile

With official trips to Boston College and Central Florida already behind him, this past weekend Harris took his final official visit when he tripped to Mississippi State.

"It was a good place," said Harris of Starkville. "My dad and I both really liked it. I could definitely see myself playing there."

John got the guided tour from one of the Bulldogs' top defensive lineman.

"Fletcher Cox was my host," said Harris. "He showed me around and everything. I really like him a lot.

"We have a lot in common, so we could relate to each other. He is just a real cool guy."

John had the chance to see Cox and the rest of the Bulldogs in action during their win over Kentucky on Saturday night.

"The game was great," said Harris. "I really liked the atmosphere there. They had those cowbells ringing, so it was really loud.

"I watched the team on the sidelines and they really stayed together through out the game. I liked that."

The talented defensive end will be able to graduate in December and enroll at his school of choice in January.

He plans to make his selection later this week.

"I am going to announce my decision on Friday on TV," said Harris. "It's going to either be Mississippi State, Boston College or UCF.

"Those are my final three schools."
