Smith 2 for 1

2011 four-star offensive tackle Donovan Smith from Owing Mills (Md.) took a last minute trip with his uncle to watch two of his top schools collide for Big 10 bragging rights.

With offers from Penn State and Michigan State, four-star offensive tackle Donovan Smith was not going to miss the two collide for Big 10 bragging rights.

"I went up there yesterday morning. It was kind of last minute and my uncle wanted to go and we decided to go."

They sat behind the Penn State bench.

"You know I thoroughly enjoyed it and definitely seeing them two going at it, especially. To the end, things got a little close, and it definitely was a good game.

Did the outcome sway him in either direction?

"I mean, I don't know. We will see.

"I spoke to Coach (Larry) Johnson briefly after, and he just shook my hand and said thanks for coming."

Smith, who is originally from New York, enjoyed the winter flurries.

"I liked the snow flurries. It was cold but it's something I am used to because New York gets cold."
