Mouhon, ranked as the No. 110 defensive end in the country by Scout.com, now favors Cincinnati and Syracuse solidly over Middle Tennessee, Maryland and Eastern Michigan. All have offered as well as Purdue and UAB.
"Cincinnati seems like a good program," Mouhon said. "I don't really know a lot about them yet and I'm just excited to go there and see what it's like and see if I can fit in there."
Not only are the Bearcats and Orange his top two, they're also the schools that are recruiting him the hardest. "They talk to me a lot," he said. "I have a really good relationship with the coaches at both schools."
Mouhon will be visiting Syracuse officially on Jan. 14. The Orangemen were his first offer last May. "I like their defense," he said. "I like the way their d-linemen play and they tell me that I'd fit in well with their defensive schemes.
"I've watched them on TV a bit and I like how hard they play and they're still coming up," he said.
Although Syracuse and Cincinnati are his favorites, there is one drawback to each. "The distance," he admitted. "Syracuse is really far…Cincinnati is a little closer, but still far.
"That's the only thing that scares me a bit," he said. "I'd really rather stay closer and be near my family. I guess we'll see what it's like during my visits."
"MTSU isn't too far away," he said. "They sent me their media guide and stuff and that's really all I know about them. I'll try and take a visit there in January too."
Mouhon says he doesn't plan to make a decision until late January.
"I'll let the process take its course," he said.
"I want to go where all the players have the same goal and where it's a real team, not a bunch of individuals," he said. "I want to play for coaches that push you to be your best."
Growing up, Mouhon says he never followed football. "I didn't get into any sports until high school," he said.
Norcross High School went 9-3 in 2010 and Mouhon finished with 10 sacks as a senior.
"I'm a great pass rusher," he said. "I can get a good jump on the ball and I'm very aggressive and play with a lot of speed."
He says he can bench 310-pounds and squats 390.
"I'd still like to get stronger," he admitted. "And I'm working on getting off my blocks faster."
Mouhon hopes to major in biology and reports a 2.9 core GPA and an 830 SAT, which he is retaking on Dec. 4.
