Buckeyes Offer Top Long-Snapper

Ohio State has joined the list of schools that have offered Bryce Haynes, one of the top long-snappers in the country. Haynes, from Cumming (GA) Pinecrest Academy, has recently picked up offers from Utah State, Arkansas and North Carolina. Bill Greene has the story on the Ohio State offer.

You know the age of specialization has hit college football when you see scholarship offers going out to long-snappers, and Cumming (GA) Pinecrest Academy's Bryce Haynes is reaping the rewards of being looked at as one of the best at his position in America.

Haynes, 6-foot-4, 185-pounds, picked up an offer from Ohio State recently, to go with offers from Arkansas, Utah State and North Carolina.

"Yes sir, I did get offered by Ohio State and they called and told me the news," Haynes stated. "They had my film, and they have been in contact with me. I called them last week and they told me Coach (Jim) Tressel was thinking it over about whether he wanted to offer a long-snapper or not, and they would get back to me."

"They called me back and said they were offering a full scholarship," he added. "They went ahead and said they wanted me to take an official visit soon, so we went ahead and set that up for December 17. I also have offers from Utah State, Arkansas and North Carolina. I visited North Carolina last weekend, and loved everything about them."

Haynes was told he is being recruited strictly as a long-snapper, and not for any other position.

"I'm pretty sure Ohio State will be sending me the written offer this week," he reported. "Ohio State is recruiting me as a long-snapper only. I'm definitely interested in Ohio State. One of my coaches was telling me the other day that he had read Coach Tressel's book, and he told me how amazing it was. I go to a smaller, private school and he told me Ohio State might be great for me."

"I don't know anything about Ohio State, other than they are one of the top programs in America," he continued. "I'm anxious to see the campus and meet the coaching staff. I would imagine their facilities are among the best in the country, and this is big news to me."

Scout.com will continue to track Haynes' visit and will update his recruitment as circumstances warrant.
