JuCo OL Visiting SEC School

Los Angeles Harbor Community College offensive tackle Joey Trapp may be on the verge of getting caught up in a whirlwind courtship that ends with him playing in one of America's top football conferences. The talented offensive tackle has fielded offers from several programs, but a call a couple of weeks ago may change everything.

Joey Trapp profile

"I am visiting Mississippi State this weekend," said Trapp. "I am about to fly down there now for my official."

Joey's name is a new one for most Mississippi State fans and the chance to join the Bulldogs' program has come in recent weeks.

"Mississippi State got involved with me about two weeks ago," said Trapp. "They talked to me about coming out for a visit. Coach Hevesy, the O line coach, is recruiting me."

In addition to his offer from Mississippi State, Joey claims offers from Arkansas State, Eastern Kentucky, Memphis, UMASS, and Western Michigan among others.

His tender from the staff in Starkville could prove to be the one option he elects to take.

"Coach Hevesy said they need a JuCo offensive lineman to come in and start at tackle and show some leadership," said Trapp. "He says they have a lot of young guys and that they needed a guy with some maturity."

The excursion to Mississippi State will be the California products first visit to the Magnolia State and he is excited to learn more about the Bulldogs' program.

"They are in the SEC and they have a great coaching staff," said Joey. "The staff has just been there a couple of years and they are already doing some great things. They are on the rise."

Trapp is a December graduate who will have two years to play on the senior level. He took an official visit to Arkansas State last week and plans to make a decision within the next week.
