Shazier Shines At UA Day One

Ohio State commit Ryan Shazier was a standout at linebacker today in the first practice at the Under Armour practice. Shazier is making the transition from defensive end, but put on quite a show today, and was one of the top performers. Bill Greene has the story on Shazier's performance.

Ryan Shazier was one of the top performers in today's first workout at the Under Armour event in Orlando.

Shazier, 6-foot-2, 210-pounds, committed to Ohio State two weeks ago, after de-committing from Florida.

"I know I did the right thing switching to Ohio State, and I'm 100% sure of my decision," Shazier stated. "I was a little concerned about leaving the state, but my parents are with me that Ohio State is the right place."

After starring at defensive end at Plantation (FLA) High School, Shazier is making the transition to outside linebacker.

"I think I did real well today, and I tried to listen to everything my position coach was telling me," he added. "I love playing linebacker and I think I'm going to make the switch real well."

Shazier will be enrolling early at Ohio State, and will be heading to Columbus immediately after the Under Armour game.

"I will be there on January 6th, and I can't wait," he stressed. "I'm excited to be with (linebacker coach) Luke Fickell, and he's one of the main reasons I committed to Ohio State."

"I'm going to be living with Braxton Miller, Jeremy Cash and Jeff Heuerman," he continued. "We are trying to recruit Jabari Gorman to Ohio State, and we are hoping he commits this week."
