ROUNDUP: Can Beavs close strong?

CLOSING. IT'S THE number one priority at this time of the recruiting year, with less than a month to go before Signing Day. With Tempe's Todd Peat, ranked 4 stars and the No. 10 DT prospect in the nation, the Beavers look like they're going to need one heck of a close. The same could be said of a couple other OSU targets from the Grand Canyon State as well.

That's because a recent blog from espn has Todd Peat quoted as favoring two schools, Stanford and ASU.

"ASU was probably my best visit and of all the schools, I think ASU and Stanford are kind of standing out right now," Peat told the site. "My family really likes both of those schools a lot too so it's going to be a very tough decision. I'm still open to everyone though and look forward to seeing Oregon State in a few weeks."

Peat is scheduled to officially visit Oregon State the weekend of Jan. 14.

OVER ON THE offensive line, Scottsdale's Cyrus Hobbi is among the Beaver targets who officially visited Corvallis previouslyu but OSU looks to have their work cut out for them there, too.

"I enjoyed my trips to Oregon State and Nebraska too but my favorites right now are ASU, USC and UCLA," said Hobbi.

Meanwhile, Ryan Nowicki remains out there as well.

Nowicki racked up 20-plus offers this season and had a whirlwind of in-home visits before the current dead period, which runs through Jan. 3, kicked in. The Beavs were among those schools sitting down in the Nowicki's living room.

Nowicki is part of the group who will officially visit OSU on Jan. 14.
