USAAAB East Notes: OL/DL and Linebackers

Gray skies and a cool breeze awaited the East squad as they took to the field for practice session number one of Army Week, but sprirts were high throughout the mornig. The East looks strong on both sides of the trenches and a talented group of linebackers may prove to be the strongest unit on the East squad.

Scout's top defensive tackle prospect, Tim Jernigan, really made some things happen in one-on-one drills.

Jernigan has an explosive first step that is really difficult for offensive linemen to react to.

In team drills, Jernigan had some really nice battles with Brian Bobek an Ohio State commitment. Bobek bested him a couple of times and was able to get him on the ground.

Georgia verbal Sterling Bailey has moved inside to play defensive tackle for the East and that will be an interesting situation to watch due to Bailey spending most of his high school career on the edge at defensive end.

Aundrey Walker might have been the top offensive lineman in the morning practice in both team and individual drills.

Walker went undefeated in one-on-one drills and consistently held his ground when defensive players tried to bull rush.

OL Antonio Richardson's day ended early with what appeared to be a shoulder ailment. After heading to the locker room to receive treatment, Richardson returned to the sidelines minus his helmet and shoulder pads.

Linebacker Kris Frost was extremely active this morning and is emerging as a vocal leader on defense.

Frost is quick to offer a word of praise and he shows a lot of passion for the game and the honor of being named an Army All-American.

Iowa pledge Rodney Coe looks the part as a middle linebacker, but he is really feeling his way through.

Coe spent most of his time at running back this year and last, but he did spend some time at defensive end. This week will be a challenge for him as he depends mainly on his athleticism to make plays.

Mississippi State commitment C.J. Johnson will likely be the man in the middle once the East defense takes the field on Saturday.

Johnson has really thrown his weight around in team drills and appears to be one of the more instinctive players on the squad.
