Steward returning to Clemson

Five-star middle linebacker Tony Steward will take his official visit to Clemson next weekend. Accompanying him will be his mom and younger brother.

It will be Steward's first trip to Clemson since a three-day stay at the Dabo Swinney Football Camp.

"I'm just ready to get on campus again, meet some of the new coaches—talk with some of the old coaches. I'm especially looking forward to speaking with coach Swinney," he said. "I'm really just trying to see if I have that same comfort level that I did when I came up this summer."

CUTigers asked if there was anything he hoped that his mom could see, or if there was anything she was looking out for on her first trip to Clemson.

"I'm not really sure. I'm sure she'll say if she found it or not," Steward said.

He's already taken an official to UCLA. The Florida State trip is a week later. Those three schools make up his final three.

Clemson: I already established a good relationship with the coaches. I've got that comfort-level on the campus. It's a small college town, really.

Florida State: I've got that relationship with all the coaches, also. I've been to the campus plenty of times. There are good people there.

UCLA: It really just opened my eyes, when I was out there. I enjoyed being out there. I felt pretty comfortable out there. I didn't think I would, because it's so far away. It's really not a factor. I bonded pretty well with the people and the coaches.

Those three, plus Florida, recently sent coaches by Pedro Mendez High School (St. Augustine, Fla.) to check up on Steward.

Clemson defensive coordinator Kevin Steele and recruiting coordinator Jeff Scott represented the Tigers.
