Big Weekender!

"I'm going to Georgia Tech later today for the weekend," Alvin Dupree said. "And then go to Kentucky on Sunday and Monday." Dupree says he will decide between the Yellow Jackets and Wildcats sometime next week. "I'll decide after these visits. I want to see how I feel at both of these schools." He says that Georgia Tech is recruiting him the hardest. "It's close to here and I feel at home there."

Alvin Dupree, the 6-foot-5, 230-pound three-star tight end from Wilkinson County High School in Irwinton, Ga., will be having a very busy weekend. Why? While most recruits take one official visit during a weekend, Dupree plans on taking two.

"I'm going to Georgia Tech later today for the weekend (Jan. 14-15)," Dupree said. "And then go to Kentucky on Sunday and Monday (Jan. 16-17)."

Dupree says he will decide between the Yellow Jackets and Wildcats sometime next week. "I'll decide after these visits," he said. "I want to see how I feel at both of these schools."

He says that Georgia Tech is recruiting him the hardest. "It's close to here (only one and half hours away) and I feel at home there," he said. "I'm very comfortable with all the coaches."

Dupree admits that proximity might play a small factor. "I'd prefer to be close," he admitted. "We'll see this weekend when I go to Kentucky."

The Wildcats are about six hours from Dupree's house.

"I've never been there," he said about Kentucky. "But I like the coaches a lot. Coaches (offensive coordinator) Randy Sanders and (defensive line) David Turner are great guys. They are real laid-back and always to the point.

"I also like how UK is coming up," he said. "They're a program on-the-rise."

Dupree says he previously had an offer from Florida State. "But they filled their spots," he said. "They aren't recruiting me anymore."

One school that is still recruiting him is South Carolina, but the Gamecocks haven't offered yet. "If they offer I'll definitely consider them too," he said. "That's a great program and I like everything about them."

So what's the likelihood of a Gamecocks offer? "They're waiting to see who decides to go to the NFL and who commits and stuff," he said. "They're still recruiting me."

Dupree plans to major in architecture and reports a 3.1 core GPA and an 18 ACT and 850 SAT.
