Grant heading to Lubbock

The Texas Tech Red Raiders hosted a number of prospects this weekend for official visits and they managed to land themselves a very talented wide receiver.

Mesquite (Texas) Horn three-star wide receiver Jakeem Grant took his official visit to Texas Tech this weekend and this morning he informed Tommy Tuberville that he will be a Red Raider.

"I told the coaches this morning before I left that I committed," Grant said. "I told Coach Tuberville that I wanted to be a Red Raider."

Grant was hosted on his official visit by Darius Pipkins.

"I was very impressed by the academics and the support staff there," explained Grant. "I also liked how they told me they would use me. They will let me do the same types of things I do for my high school.

"I really liked the environment at Texas Tech," Grant continued. "The players and coaches are all real cool."

Grant was expected to take an official visit to Pittsburgh, but that trip is looking like it may not happen.

"I most likely not going to take the trip to Pittsburgh," Grant stated.

The 5-foot-7, 160-pound, standout is one of the most dynamic open field runners in the Mesquite are and all of Texas for that matter.
