Another Visit in Books for Ka'ai

Honolulu (Hawaii) Kamehameha defensive end Koa Ka'ai talks about his official visit to Stanford and what his timetable is...

Honolulu (Hawaii) Kamehameha defensive end Koa Ka'ai took his fourth visit this past weekend, and his trip to Stanford was also the first weekend that new Cardinal coach David Shaw hosted visitors.

"It was pretty good out there, I really liked it," said Ka'ai. "I had just turned in my application before the visit, so I should find out pretty soon."

A fellow Hawaiian, Matt Masifilo, was Ka'ai's host on the trip.

"I also met a bunch of the defensive linemen and coaches and Andrew Luck too," said Ka'ai.

Ka'ai was impressed with what he heard from Shaw.

"Coach Shaw is really down to earth, soft spoken, and has good football sense and knowledge. They shouldn't skip a beat with him there," said Ka'ai. "At first I didn't have a sense about him, but he's a very critical part of their offense and they are in good hands with him."

Ka'ai has previously visited Oregon, Nebraska and Arizona and next week he'll be in Boulder to visit Colorado.

"Those are my top five," said Ka'ai. "I'm not looking at USC anymore."

Ka'ai is getting closer to having to make a decision.

"I've thought this over since I knew I had to make a decision but I haven't come to a for-sure decision," said Ka'ai. "I'm hoping it's not Signing Day, I'm hoping it's before that."

Ka'ai will have a host of schools in this week.

"Colorado is coming and so is Coach Anderson from Stanford and Coach Shaw," said Ka'ai. "Coach Aliotti from Oregon and Coach Chaffey from Nebraska are also coming in."

Brandon is in his sixth year with, currently as the West Regional Manager. Prior to joining Scout, he spent three years as an o-line and tight ends coach in the high school ranks.
