South Region Commitments 2012

The class of 2011 is all signed (with the exception of the No. 1 player in the country), but the schools in the region are off to a big start for the class of 2012. The battle lines are drawn, and a race for next year's class is in full swing.


Alabama

The Crimson Tide has jumpstarted their class with six commitments which include four-star middle linebacker Reggie Ragland (6-4, 245) from Madison-Bob Jones, Ala., four-star defensive tackle Dakota Ball (6-2, 282) from Lindale-Pepperell, Ga., four-star safety Eddie Williams (6-4, 205) from Panama City Beach-Arnold, Fla., three-star teammates from Prattville High School, quarterback Justin Thomas (5-11, 180) and defensive end Caleb Gulledge (6-4.5, 270), and kicker Adam Griffith (5-9, 165) from Calhoun, Ga.

Arkansas

The Razorbacks have reeled in two on the offensive side of the ball in three-star wide receiver Jalen Cobb (6-1, 185) from Warren, Ark., and offensive tackle Jeremy Ward (6-4, 275) from Pottsville, Ark.

Auburn

The Tigers have grabbed one for this class with three-star offensive guard Michael Flint (6-4, 303) from Oxford, Ala.

Clemson

The Tigers landed an out-of-stater in Jay Guillermo (6-3, 284) who is an offensive guard from the powerhouse program of Maryville High School in Tenn.

Duke

The Blue Devils have a huge wide receiver target who kicked off their 2012 class with Erich Schneider (6-6, 200) from Episcopal High School in Jacksonville, Fla.

Florida

The Gators have a pair of in-staters with four-star offensive tackle Omari Phillips (6-6, 270) from Venice, and three-star safety Latroy Pittman (6-1, 185) from North Marion.

Florida State

The Seminoles are not letting any grass grow under their feet with the No. 1 class in 2011 after Cyrus Kouandjio switched his commitment to Alabama. Jimbo Fisher has already 'speared' seven for the class of 2012 including four-star defensive end Dante Fowler (6-3, 238) from St. Petersburg-Lakewood, Fla., four-star defensive end Chris Casher (6-4, 220) from Mobile-Faith Academy, Ala., three-star safety P.J. Williams (6-1, 170) from Ocala-Vanguard, Fla., three-star defensive tackle Dalvon Stuckey (6-3, 300) from Defuniak Springs-Walton, Fla., three-star running back Mario Pender (6-0, 210) from Cape Coral-Island Coast, Fla., three-star cornerback A.J. Leggett (5-11, 175) from Miami-Gulliver Prep, Fla., and punter Roberto Aguayo (6-0, 185) from Groveland-South Lake, Fla.

Georgia

The Bulldogs also have a couple with three-star wide receiver C.J. Curry (6-2, 184), from Gainesville, Ga., and kicker Marshall Morgan (6-3, 200) from Ft. Lauderdale-Archbishop McCarthy, Fla.

LSU

The Tigers are off to a fast start with five pledges including four-star wide receiver Avery Johnson (6-2, 185) from Pompano Beach-Blanche Ely, Fla., three-star middle linebacker Trey Granier (6-1, 225) from Thibodaux, La., three-star tight end Dillon Gordon (6-5, 250) from River Ridge-John Curtis, La., defensive end Torshiro Davis (6-3, 210) from Baton Rouge-Woodlawn, and outside linebacker Ronnie Feist (6-1, 210) from Edgard-West St. John, La.

Miami

The Hurricanes added three commitments last September which included three-star outside linebacker Keith Brown (6-1, 205) from Miami-Norland, Fla., and teammate three-star running back Duke Johnson (5-9, 180). Three-star cornerback Willie Bailey (6-2, 160) from Hallandale, Fla. is a part of the trio.

North Carolina

The Tar Heels got a commitment the day following signing day from three-star outside linebacker Shakeel Rashad (6-2, 205) from Episcopal High School in Jacksonville, Fla.

North Carolina State

The Wolfpack have a pair in this class which includes safety Josh Sessoms (6-3, 185), and cornerback Niles Clark (5-11, 180) from Marietta-Lassiter, Ga.

South Carolina

The Gamecocks closed out strong in the 2011 class and possibly not finished yet to make a huge jump in the rankings. They have already grabbed one for the class of 2012 in running back Kendric Salley (5-11, 205) from Williston-Elko, S.C.

Wake Forest

The Demon Deacons had outside linebacker Jordan Pineda (6-3, 200), from Boone-Watauga, N.C., agree to a grayshirt from the class of 2011 after suffering a recent hip injury.
