Burke Is One to Watch

From all reports, Columbia, Pa., product Michael Burke just lit it up at the New Level Athletics 7-on-7 passing camp powered by Badger Sports statistically and we caught up with him on Tuesday to find out which schools have been showing early interest in him.

Michael Burke, a 6-foot-2, 200-pound wide receiver from Columbia High School is a prospect that first stood out to us at initial tryouts for the NLA 7-on-7 in Philadelphia and apparently he continued to play well when the action was live this past weekend.

"I have to call BYU later tonight and my dad has been talking to some Big East schools like West Virginia and Villanova," Burke said. "I actually talked to BYU last week and they said they want me to come out and get evaluated in June when they have workouts. They've had a good record over the years and are a solid program, so I'm interested in them."

The one thing we're curious about is Burke's 40-time as he does everything else really well and apparently dominated at the Badger Sports 7-on-7 tournament this weekend.

"I'll be going out to Pittsburgh for a Nike Combine and I'll finally get to find out what I run a 40-yard dash in later this month," Burke stated. "I think I had like 13 touchdowns up at the passing tournament this weekend and I wasn't having any problems with the speed of the other players up there at all. Max Ward and I from Steel High did really well together."

As a junior, Burke caught 72 passes for 1200 yards and 18 touchdowns. He also returned an interception for a touchdown. He was named Wide Receiver of the Year for Section III, first-team All-League and first-team All-State at receiver. He was also named honorable mention All-League at defensive back.
