Feeney Has First Offer

Orland Park Sandburg (Ill.) junior offensive lineman Dan Feeney has picked up a Big Ten offer.

Orland Park Sandburg produced an FBS lineman a few years back when Mike Schofield committed to Michigan, and now the Eagles have another in junior Dan Feeney.

"We were at Indiana Thursday for spring practice," his mother Kim reported, "and the head coach asked him to call them on Friday and he did, and they offered him a verbal scholarship."

As a junior, the 6'4, 300-lb Feeney was the starting left tackle and also played nose, earning All-Conference and All-Area honors. In college, he likely projects to the guard position.

Indiana offensive line coach Greg Frey recruited Schofield when he was at Michigan and now is after Feeney.

"He's very excited about it. They are one of his top choices," Mrs. Feeney said of the offer.

Of course, the Feeneys will continue to look into other options, and they have a few visits set up for the coming weeks.

"We will be at Purdue Saturday for junior day and then we're going to Northern Illinois this Thursday for practice. Then we are going to U of I (Illinois) on Saturday."

Scout will have junior footage of Feeney up in the coming days.
